It’s not a pure coincidence that Unifi Data Platform 2.8 has gone from nowhere to a leadership position in the Forrester Wave for Machine Learning Data Catalogs and Data Preparation by Ovum in just seven months. A leadership position in two independent, leading industry analyst reports is the result of our vision backed by high-speed execution. At Unifi, we launch a new release of the platform every six weeks. In our latest release, we started our journey for integrating with Tableau server and Adobe Cloud Platforms.
Integration with Tableau Server
As a part of this release, we now support crawling metadata from a Tableau server into the Unifi Data Catalog. Using the Unifi Data Catalog, Tableau administrators and data stewards can get an aggregated view of all Tableau Projects, Workbooks and Views created across multiple Tableau sites and servers. This aggregated view will help data stewards to govern enterprise-wide Tableau deployment.
Actual live Tableau Views are embedded in the Unifi Data Catalog UI. Thus any change made in real time in Tableau for views is reflected immediately inside the Unifi Data Catalog.
In future releases, we will support searching, tagging, discovering sensitive data (PII), and associating datasets from the Unifi Data Catalog with Tableau data sources for further exploration.
Integration with Adobe Cloud Platform
Recently Adobe announced the next generation of Adobe Cloud Platform at Adobe summit in Las Vegas. Adobe Cloud Platform is based on “shared architecture,” bringing all experience data from systems of engagement together to provide a single version of the truth. Compute and business logic for Adobe solutions are co-located with all requisite data, thereby avoiding data movement and multiple copies of the data.
The Unifi Data Platform has now built an adapter for integrating with Adobe Cloud Platform. The adapter catalogs data stored in Adobe Cloud Platform, providing a comprehensive view of all stored datasets. Using Unifi Data Platform, analysts can also write output of a prep job into Adobe Cloud Platform. This is the first time we have built an adapter that can crawl metadata from a source (inbound adapter) and can also write results of a data preparation job back into it (outbound adapter).
Actual live Tableau Views are embedded in the Unifi Data Catalog UI. Thus any change made in real time in Tableau for views is reflected immediately inside Unifi Data Catalog.
Stay tuned for additional information as other new features are announced.
